SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Thomas Academy senior Danny McManus knows beating South St. Paul was huge for his Cadets.

Heading into the regular season finale, the Packers were a perfect 7-0 while the Cadets rolled into South St. Paul with a 6-1 record. What happened next was a complete blowout as St. Thomas Academy shut out the Packers 34-0. With the win, the Cadets earned a share of the Classic Suburban title.

McManus knew it was going to be a big game and he proved to be the star. McManus broke the game open in the second quarter when he hauled in a 65-yard touchdown to give the Cadets a 17 point lead. McManus showed off his versatility in the third quarter, breaking off a 53-yard touchdown run.

It was sweet revenge for the Cadets because the Packers ended the Cadets' season in last year's section finals with an overtime victory that cost St. Thomas Academy from making it to the state tournament.

The Cadets' star continued his successful season and is a main part of why St. Thomas Academy finished with a share of the conference title, as well as a reason for optimism as they head into the section tournament.
