MINNEAPOLIS - Two Minnesota Twins will represent the American League at the All-Star Game next week at Target Field.
Pitcher Glen Perkins and catcher Kurt Suzuki were announced as All-Stars on Sunday night.
It will be the second All-Star Game for Perkins, a Stillwater native, who said via Twitter on Sunday night that he is honored.
Perkins has a 3.22 ERA in 36 games this season. He ranks No. 4 in the American League with 20 saves.
Suzuki, who is a native Hawaiian, is in his eighth season as a pro. He is leading all American League catchers with a .306 batting average. This will be his first All-Star game.
Former Twins Carlos Gomez (Milwaukee) and Pat Neshek (St. Louis) will also be in Minneapolis for the National League All-Star team. Neshek played high school baseball in Brooklyn Park.
Former Twins first baseman Justin Morneau will need fans to vote him into the game.
The All-Star Game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15.
