EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – The Minnesota Vikings selected three players early in the seventh round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

The first pick was No. 220 and it came via a trade with the Falcons. The Vikings selected Connecticut defensive tackle Shamar Stephen. He checks in at 6 feet 5 inches tall and 309 pounds. described him as a "big, athletic, raw interior defender with underachiever traits who had a fairly nondescript career at UConn."

That said, also noted that he has the size and physical tools to be molded by a coaching staff.

With the second pick in the seventh round, No. 223, the Vikings selected Brandon Watts, an outside linebacker from Georgia Tech.

Watts is 6 feet tall and 225 pounds. He is described by at "a finesse, run-and-hit, coverage linebacker with the athletic traits and raw speed worth developing on the weak side … Could factor on special-teams coverage readily."

The Vikings stayed on defense with pick No. 225, which came from the Giants via Carolina. They selected North Carolina cornerback Jabari Price.

The 5 feet 10 inch tall corner ran a 4.45 40-yard dash. He is said to have good speed and acceleration, but described him as a "fairly nondescript cornerback who does not excel in man or zone coverage. Speed and tackling ability play well on special teams, where he will have to stand out to have a chance."
