GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Olympic medal winner Gracie Gold has captured the hearts of many Americans, so many that she Inspired KARE 11's Melissa Colorado to strap on her first pair of figure skates and hit the ice.

Thankfully, former Olympian Mark Militano, who represented the United States at the 1972 Winter Olympics and is the 1973 U.S. national champion, agreed to train her at the Augsburg College ice rink.

Militano runs a coaching and skating choreography business in Minnesota, named Milimar Inc.

So what Melissa learn from her foray into figure skating? It takes a lot of patience, time and dedication to make flips, jumps, spins and loops appear so easy on screen.
