Jerrid joined the KARE 11 weather team in January 2010. He became the weekend meteorologist in July 2011. Born and raised in Montevideo, Minn., Jerrid started his career at KDLT in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, before moving to KARE 11's sister-station, KPNX in Phoenix.
"It's been a real pleasure forecasting and studying weather in two extremely different climates," Jerrid says.
It's hard to tell on TV but Jerrid stands at 6 foot 6 inches tall and played basketball at the University of North Dakota while pursuing his meteorology degree. He is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designated by the American Meteorological Society.
Besides weather, some of Jerrid's other passions include family, staying in shape, personal finance, motorcycles and faith.
When I was young I wanted to be: Professional baseball pitcher.
Favorite story you ever worked on: I covered "Tornado Tuesday" when South Dakota saw 67 twisters in six hours on June 24, 2003, the record for most tornadoes in one state in one day. The largest tornado hit the small South Dakota town of Manchester literally destroying everything in it. Miraculously, no one was killed.
Favorite Food: Pretty much anything and everything. However, popcorn, chocolate and watermelon are my top-favorites...not at the same time, please.
Favorite Movie: Christmas Vacation with Major League and Point Break in a close second .
Why do you like your job: I get paid to talk and tell stories.
Favorite vacation spot: Our lake cabin on Sullivan Lake by Hillman, Minn.
Favorite sport to play: Basketball, golf and ping-pong.
Favorite subject in school: Lunch time
