GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn.--  GiGi's Playhouse, a Down Syndrome Awareness Center, is coming to Minneapolis.

The first GiGi's Playhouse was started in Hoffman Estates, Illinois in 2003. Since then, 11 locations have opened across the Midwest with New York, Atlanta and Mexico scheduled to open this spring. Each location focuses on spreading awareness about Down syndrome through national campaigns and offers free educational/therapeutic programming and tutoring.

On Saturday, February 25, from 7 p.m. to midnight, a gala will be held at Pinstripes in Edina to help fund this new resource in Minnesota for the Down syndrome community and their families. The 'I Have a Voice' gala will feature music from the band Lion and the Bloom, a silent auction, wine wall, bowling, and bocce ball.
