GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - After our first real Arctic outbreak of the season Thursday, we're slowly emerging from the cold and now snow has taken over the edge of the retreating Arctic air.
Sven Sundgaard says to expect snow to fall across the metro through the morning into the early to mid afternoon hours. We'll see just about 1 to 2 inches of fresh powder, but areas south like Mankato, Albert Lea, Rochester, and into northern Iowa, southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois will see several inches of snow (possibly 6" plus).
Skies will clear out quickly late this afternoon, perhaps providing a chance to see the sunset. With clear skies and light winds and fresh snow cover, temps will dip to around zero overnight.
We'll warm up even more on Saturday with sunshine and highs in the upper teens, inching close to 20. Expect highs near 30 by Sunday with another round of light snow. We could see another inch or so Sunday.
