GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - We finished round one of February snow, but don't stash the shovel yet.
More is on the way!
We are now in the middle of our most active week of winter weather this season. Totals from last night's snow ranged from 2 to 5 inches for most of the metro, with the official reading coming in at 2.7" at the MSP Airport.
Plymouth collected the most, with 5.0" of fresh, heavy, wet snow. After today's snowfall we've now gone from the second least snowiest winter season to fifth, with more on the way. Meteorological winter goes through February 29th.
We'll see some clearing this afternoon combined with temps in the upper 30s, melting snow on paved surfaces, but clouds will be moving back in Wednesday afternoon after some morning sunshine.
Expect additional snow showers to start around dark again Wednesday evening lasting through Thursday morning, giving us another potential 1 to 3 inches of fresh snow.
That snow could affect the Thursday morning commute more than Wednesday's, since the snow will be falling still during the morning rush hour.
After that temps will cool slightly below freezing with yet another storm system possible for Sunday.
