Fugitive assaults officer, causes multiple crashes

The suspect has two warrants out for his arrest.

LINO LAKES, Minn. - A fugitive who was wanted on drug charges is now behind bars after assaulting a police officer, initiating a police chase, causing two crashes and fleeing on foot.

Authorities say the man, identified as Jesse Satter, 36, has two warrants out for his arrest in Pine County and Isanti County. Mike Fuller, with the U.S. Marshals, said they had been assisting the Minnesota Department of Corrections in the search for Satter but had not located him.

Then Monday morning, around 3:30 a.m., a Wyoming police officer pulled Satter and his girlfriend over for a traffic violation, not knowing he had warrants out for his arrest.

Once the officer discovered Satter was a known fugitive, he attempted to place him under arrest but Satter got out of his vehicle and assaulted the officer.

Satter then rammed two squad cars and fled the scene.

Later that morning, Satter was seen entering the Walmart off Interstate 35 and tipped off authorities. Officers searched the store but did not locate Satter.

Just before noon, Fuller said Satter was seen as a passenger in a vehicle near I-35 and Lake Drive. The vehicle pulled over, the driver got out and Satter jumped into the driver's seat. Authorities say they don't know if Satter knew the driver or not.

Police pursued Satter in the vehicle and a short chase began.

Satter then was seen crashing into two vehicles near I-35W and County Road 23 in Lino Lakes. Traffic cameras show Satter fleeing the vehicle on foot before being apprehended by authorities.
