Ellery McCardle joined KARE 11 in August 2016 and is happy to be back home in the Twin Cities. Before coming to KARE 11, Ellery worked at KAAL-TV in Rochester, Minn. as an Anchor/Investigative Reporter. She then moved to Green Bay, Wis. to work at WBAY-TV as a Weekend Anchor/Reporter. Ellery has won several awards for her reporting, including a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her investigative report exposing a synthetic drug problem in Minnesota as well as several Page One awards through the Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists.
Ellery grew up in River Falls, Wis. and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from The University of Tampa. She is happy to be back home, close to family and reporting for the communities she grew up visiting. She is always searching for her next interesting story to tell and would love to hear from you!
When I was young, I wanted to be: A teacher, then a bus driver. Then in 3rd grade I took a broadcast class during the summer and I've wanted to be a reporter ever since!
Favorite vacation spot: Iceland! It's a photographer's paradise. I love to travel so this answer may have to be updated soon.
Favorite sport to play: Running. I grew up participating in cross country and I've been logging miles ever since. It's a great stress reliever.
Why do you like your job: I love meeting new people and hearing their stories. I am so thankful to be able to tell stories in the area I grew up.
Family: My parents who split their time between Florida and Minnesota. My sister and her family live in the Twin Cities. I have two adorable nieces!
