Weekend Meteorologist Jamie Kagol

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — Jamie Kagol joined the KARE 11 weather team in Dec. 2022 after a cross-country tour of forecasting over the past two decades. Ironically, it all started here in Golden Valley when he interned with Ken Barlow.

His first station was KEYC in Mankato, MN. The next stop for Jamie was at KIFI in Idaho Falls, ID where he forecast snowstorms in the Northern Rockies. Then a move across the country had him forecasting the tropical weather of Fort Myers, FL at WFTX. After getting enough sun and sand, it was time to move north to Mid-Michigan working at WEYI/WSMH in Flint. Jamie wasn't done with warm weather just yet, the next stop put him in the Valley of the Sun at KPNX in Phoenix, Arizona where he covered triple-digit heat, monsoon storms, haboobs and high-country snowstorms.

Jamie studied Geography at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter before going on to earn his Master's Degree in Meteorology at Saint Louis University in Missouri. His research specialized in severe storms, tornadoes and Doppler radar. He holds the AMS Seal of Approval for broadcast meteorology.
