Ryan Shaver joined KARE 11 in August of 2015. Growing up, he dreamed of some day working in the same building as his dad, Randy Shaver, and is beyond excited to be making that a reality. Before moving back to the Twin Cities, Ryan was the weekend sports anchor at KIMT News 3 in Mason City, IA where he won two IBNA awards for best sports feature.

Ryan attended Benilde-St. Margaret's for high school and then graduated from the University of Saint Thomas, where he worked as the director of TommieMedia.

When I was young, I wanted to be: A funnier, better-looking version of my dad.

Favorite story you ever worked on: Becoming a pro wrestler at Total Impact in Algona.

Favorite food: Pizza, sushi and gummy worms.

Favorite movie: "Big Lebowski," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "Gladiator."

Favorite CD/Album: Ten by Pearl Jam.

Favorite subject in school: Gym.

Favorite sport to play: Was a football player (back in the day).

Why do you like your job: Every day is different. Every day is a new adventure. I'm in the same building as my dad, covering the teams I grew up loving and many of the people at KARE 11 I've known basically my whole life. Does it get better than that?
