MINNEAPOLIS -- The Kentucky Derby is coming up, and no Derby celebration is complete without a mint julep and a big hat.
Luckily for Minnesotans, there's a unique event where you can create your derby hat while sipping on the signature race drink!
Graduate Minneapolis is hosting a Kentucky Derby Hat Making Party on Wednesday, April 25 from 3-6:30 p.m.
For $15, you can create your own hat using provided decorations. There will be hat bases there, but you can also bring your own to decorate.
Want to mix up your own Kentucky Derby party drinks? Here's what Graduate in-house mixologist Isaiah Holl suggests:
Mint Julep:
- Maker’s Mark® Bourbon
- Simple Syrup
- Fresh Mint Leaves
- Instructions: Add all ingredients to a julep cup, muddle the mint leaves to express the oils, add crushed ice and garnish with a mint sprig
Royal-Tea:
- Beefeater Gin
- Pom Juice
- Prosecco
- White Tea
- Citrus
- Instructions: Add all ingredients to a shaker. Shake well -strain from ice and garnish with a flower
