Help Me Hacks: Keep your home cool during the summer

KARE 11's Sven Sundgaard has some tips to cool your home - and maybe even save some energy!

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Don't have central air conditioning? Does one area of your home get hotter than others? Small changes can go a long way in keeping you and your home cool this summer.

KARE 11's Sven Sundgaard has some tips to do so - and maybe even save some energy!

  • Close your blinds or buy blackout curtains to keep out the sun's energy.
  • Close doors and vents in rooms you're not using much.
  • Sleep on the lowest level of your home.
  • Open windows and put a fan inside to create airflow.
  • Use energy efficient light bulbs. They put off less heat!
