Help Me Hacks: Learn how to budget with these apps

From basic budgeting to investment objectives, these apps can help you get your finances on track.

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Need help balancing your budget? There’s an app for that.

“From your basic budgeting apps to a things a little more complex where you can tie it to your goals and your values to investment objectives, so there’s a pretty broad spectrum,” said founder of Spend, Share, Save Nathan Dungan.

So let’s start with your basic budgeting app, Mint. From balances to bills, this download links directly to your bank account and credit cards so you can track your transactions. Plus, it keeps your credit score front and center so you stay in the know.

Apps like Spendy and Wally are similar to Mint. These apps aim to make it easy to see where your money goes with real time updates on your balance.

If you’re looking to turn some of your pennies into profits, the Acorns app connects to your debit card and rounds up to nearest dollar and invests the difference in a portfolio that you’ve selected, putting your pocket change to work.

Try to play around with different apps, Dungan said.

“What works for one person may or may not work for the next person," he said.

Other things to consider when clicking around for app ideas: user interface, cost and what your values and goals are.
