Sunrise Summer: Top 5 breweries

There are tons of incredible options for a cold beer in the metro - but these are our top picks!

MINNEAPOLIS - If there's one thing we love in Minnesota, it's our beer. In recent years, beer lovers have even more delicious options thanks to an explosion of craft breweries across the state.

Before we give you our list of favorite breweries, we just want to say - we know there are TONS of amazing places to grab a cold one in the area. These may be our top picks, but we always love hearing about new places to try. Let us know your favorites on the KARE 11 Facebook page or tweet us using #Sunrisers!

Dangerous Man - NE Minneapolis

If you want to try Dangerous Man's delicious selection of beer, you have to head to its Northeast Minneapolis taproom - and it is certainly worth the trip. This spot is a favorite of KARE 11's Alicia Lewis, who is a big fan of their Peanut Butter Porter. It's not on tap right now, but should be back come fall!

Modist Brewing Co. - North Loop

"We make alternative beers" - that's what Modist Brewing Co. boasts on its website. With a variety of unique flavors and styles of beer, Modist is a can't miss in the crowded North Loop beer scene and the favorite of our digital producer Marisa DeCandido. If you can't make it to the brewery, you can find their beers across the metro using this handy map. But there are brewery tours available if you do want to make the trip!

Bauhaus Brew Labs - NE Minneapolis

At Bauhaus Brew Labs' eclectic taproom, art and beer are seamlessly brought together to create a one-of-a-kind beer-drinking experience. The brewery's name comes from one of the world's most famous art and design schools in post-WWI Germany. Bauhaus mainly offers German-style beers with a twist, but there are plenty of other options, too!

Surly Brewing Co. - Minneapolis

Surly Brewing Co. is synonymous with the Minnesota beer scene. Now, it's sold in nine states and Canada. In addition to Surly's year round staples, it also offers seasonal beers and small batches at its Minneapolis brewery. If you've never tried a Surly beer, Alicia Lewis recommends Surly Hell.

Inbound BrewCo - North Loop

Inbound BrewCo must be good - KARE 11's Kris Laudien and Sven Sundgaard both said it's their favorite spot! The Cream Ale is a big hit for both of them. Inbound offers 30 craft beers and two craft sodas in a 12,000 square foot taproom. Hungry? A different food truck stops there every day!
