GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - April is Distracted Driving Awareness month and many are still dangerously unaware of the prevalence of distracted driving behaviors among drivers today.

According to AAA, each year, more than 80% of drivers cite distraction as a serious problem and a behavior that makes them feel less safe on the road.

A new book by Minnesota author, Vijay Dixit, "One Split Second: The Distracted Driving Epidemic-How it kills and how we can fix it," suggests that not only are we part of the problem, but surprisingly part of the solution too.

Dixit joined KARE 11 News @ 4 to talk more about his book and cirriculum.

Vijay Dixit is a grieving father and distraction free driving advocate and brings together real-life stories, facts & figures with research about human behaviors behind the wheel.

He presents expert perspectives and solutions on how to end the deadly distracted-driving epidemic that causes thousands deaths every year.
