BREEZY POINT, Minn. — Good things come to those who wait.

Ask Jerry Jackson of Blaine, who navigated a full 83 years on planet earth before notching his first hole-in-one.

To be fair, Jerry has only been golfing for about 60 of those 83 years, but collecting an ace at White Birch Golf Course in Breezy Point over Memorial Day weekend was something he'll never forget.

It happened on the ninth hole, a 130 yard poke he hit with a 7-iron. Jerry was playing in a foursome with his son Brad, who says the ball landed on the green, hit the pin and dropped right in the hole. Brad Jackson says he almost fell out of the golf cart he got so excited for his dad.

A nearby greenskeeper heard the commotion and came running over, figuring someone had just hit a hole-in-one.  Jerry told his daughter Renee Lee he didn’t actually see the ball go in the hole but knew by his son's reaction what had happened.

Jackson's good fortune didn't end there. The group went up to JJ's at Breezy Point after the round where he bought a round of drinks for the house, as is customary for anyone who hits a hole-in-one. While there Jerry played a horse race game, won $500 bucks on the #9 horse, then won a meat raffle on #29 (See the pattern here..? His ace came at hole number nine at White Birch).

Renee says while he is a proud father of six, grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 7, her dad's life revolves around golf. Jerry lives on hole number 6 at TPC Golf Club in Blaine, winters in Las Vegas where he never misses a chance to tee off, and then plays at Breezy Point in the summer. She describes Jerry as a "spry 83-year-old" who owns his own dental lab and still enjoys working. Renee adds that her dad spent 5 years as a dedicated caregiver for his ailing wife before she passed away two years ago from cancer, and is making up for the golf rounds he missed during that time.

Congrats, Jerry! Sounds like it was worth waiting 83 years for.
