Legal issues and health care for seniors

A free clinic is being offered to help people understand how they can advocate for their legal and healthcare needs.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Legal rights impact health care, especially for the older people in our lives.

On Wednesday June 6 there's a free legal fair taking place in Saint Paul to address the impact of legal issues on health care for caregivers. The fair will be at the InterContinental Saint Paul Riverfront Hotel from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Ghita Worcester from UCare and Laura Orr from Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services shared tips for seniors.

Admission is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required before Thursday, May 31 to participate in the free wills and estate planning clinic, which will help participants create free wills and healthcare directives.

Pre-registration is also required for the “legal checkup” clinic. A “legal checkup” is designed to help participants identify issues in their lives for which there may be a legal solution, and help them identify steps they can take to solve them.
