PLYMOUTH, Minn. — Beginning this month through April 15, AARP Minnesota Tax-Aide volunteers will be providing free tax assistance.
AARP’s Tax-Aide program is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service, offering free tax preparation help to anyone, especially those who are over 50 and cannot afford a tax preparation service.
AARP State Director Will Phillips and Minnesota Tax-Aide Volunteer Coordinator Elizabeth Huges Hitomi appeared on KARE 11 to explain how Minnesotans can find a tax aide location in their community. In 2018, Minnesota Tax-Aide volunteers helped more than 128,000 Minnesotans file their federal and state tax returns.
The program is offered at approximately 150 sites in Minnesota including senior centers, libraries and other convenient locations. Adults who cannot afford to hire someone to help with their taxes, can schedule an appointment at a Tax-Aide location in their neighborhood by clicking here. Last year, taxpayers who used the AARP Tax-Aide service in Minnesota received $6 million in refunds.
