GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - The 'Sandwich Generation' is a generation of people typically in their 30s, 40s or early 50s who are both raising younger children and caring for elderly parents.

This puts them in the position to simultaneously be thinking about and paying for schooling and college, assisted living, health care for both children and parents and caring for themselves.

We will be examining issues important to this generation on a weekly basis on KARE 11 News at 11 a.m. We are partnering with the Minnesota Board of Aging.

We kicked off the partnership on Tuesday March 29 with Kari Benson with the Minnesota Board on Aging. She shared information about resources available to the sandwich generation.
