Mall of America's Chapel of Love turns 20

From quirky couples to arranged marriages, the Mall of America's Chapel of Love has seen it all.

They say you can't buy love, but love is always on full display at the Chapel of Love, located on the third floor of the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN.

The quaint chapel has married over 6,000 couples, some from as far away as Japan.

Pastor Paul Marzahn has officiated weddings at the Chapel since it opened 20 years ago.

"There have been a lot of interesting stories. There were several cases of cold feet. There was even one couple who wanted me to tear up the marriage license because they wanted nothing to do with each other," said Marzahn.

The couple later agreed to attend Marzahn's marriage counseling sessions.

Even before the Chapel was open, Marzahn officiated weddings in the Mall's parking lot.

The Chapel of Love's 20th anniversary happens to fall on the anniversary of Tairie and Bill Starr of Minneapolis.

The couple have roots to the chapel. Bill worked as a custodian and Tairi was the chapel's wedding coordinator. She is currently one of the chapel's officiators.

Tairie Starr said, "The Chapel of Love is a very special place. There have been a lot of fun times here, a lot of great memories, a lot of sweet stories."

In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Chapel of Love, the Starrs renewed their vows.

Just as he has done for so many other couples, Pastor Marzahn officiated them.
