Bumble Bizz is a dating app for business

Swipe right on a new career opportunity?

MINNEAPOLIS - Dating apps are all about building a connection between two strangers.

But sometimes that connection doesn't have to be romantic. Now, Bumble is taking its networking to a business level.

"Sometimes people say, you know, I'll ask them, 'Hey, are you on Bumble?' And they're like, 'No, I'm in a relationship,' and that's when I'm like, 'Actually, I'm in a relationship too. But anyone can use Bumble,'" says Sarah Edwards.

Edwards is the Minnneapolis brand ambassador for Bumble, or as she likes to put it, "Queen Bee."

And this digital royal is bringing people together so they can learn more about this new professional platform.

"If you're someone looking to switch jobs, switch careers, maybe you're a recruiter that's looking to hire, it's really a connection platform that anyone can use," she says.

Here's how it works. If you already have the dating app, just switch to Bizz mode.

Bumble matches people by geographic area. You can add photos, a digital resume and examples of your work. Swipe away and you're already networking.

"The whole tagline is women make the first move," Edwards says. "Bumble is really for expanding your network, but also creating value."

And there's value in face-to-face interactions. That's why Bumble Bizz organizes community events like panel discussions, group workout classes and happy hours.

"I have an event coming up called 'Be the CEO,' and it's focused on women that work in generally male environments such as tech, sports, construction," she says.

The app aims to help boost careers, one swipe at a time.

"I really do believe that one connection can, you know, change your life," Edwards says.
