MINNEAPOLIS - Flipgrid started as an idea 12 years ago. Now it has grown in to an education social platform for students around the world.

Commonly described as the Snapchat for education, Flipgrid allows educators to start a discussion topic on the social platform. Teachers moderate and control the discussions but students are able to upload short video responses and interact in a non-classroom setting.

"They have the same platform. The same max amount of time to record their video so no one student can dominate the conversation," said Joey Taralson, the V.P. of Engagement for Flipgrid. "It provides an avenue for students to participate in a way they're more comfortable with."
