Minnetonka entrepreneur invents 'Bra Bridge'

Judy Samson of Minnetonka created the Bra Bridge to help women achieve a better bra fit.

MINNETONKA, Minn. -- A Twin Cities attorney used her own experiences to create a bra fitting accessory.

Judy Samson has spent more than 20 years working as a criminal defense attorney. About two years ago, a second career started to take shape.

"I'm kind of larger-breasted... I was walking downtown Minneapolis and I saw the bouncing in sort of my reflection as I was walking... So I got home and I looked in the mirror and I thought, 'Okay, I gotta do something about this,'" Samson recalled. "I pulled my bra cups in and I instantly saw a difference."

Samson started with sewing a piece of fabric between her bra cups. From there, she came up with different prototypes.

It took one year from the development stage to having the first orders of Bra Bridge delivered to her family's home in Minnetonka. Bra Bridge officially launched six months ago.

The Bra Bridge has two clips on its ends. You secure it between the cups of any existing bra to pull the cups closer together, providing more support. It's meant for women who are a C cup or larger. According to Samson, the Bra Bridge can lift and support breasts, reduce side-boob, sagging and unwanted bouncing.

"It gave me a sense of security and confidence and I know that's hard to understand because somebody else may not even see that I have a Bra Bridge on because they don't see the difference... I know. I feel the difference," she said.

Samson said the Bra Bridge will not show through most tops but she recommends having the flat side face out. It works on most bras but customers shouldn't attach it to a silky bra unless there's a seam.

"It's been unbelievable. It's been so exciting. The women love it," Samson said. "They have different reasons and needs for it. So they may have too much breast tissue and they want to contain it, so that's why they buy it. We have breast cancer survivors who buy it because maybe their breasts have been augmented and they're different sizes, so they need assistance with that. We have women who have one size larger than the other. We have people, like me, who are just an average size but I just want to look a little slimmer and have it pulled in and held and lifted and controlled."

The Bra Bridge comes in white, beige and black and costs $19.95 for the pack of three. It's sold at multiple local stores, as well as on the Bra Bridge website and Amazon.
