Target, 3M, Best Buy among Fortune's 'World's Most Admired Companies'

In the 2020 list, two Minnesota companies broke the top 50.

Target, 3M and Best Buy all made Fortune's 2020 "World's Most Admired Companies" list.

MINNEAPOLIS — A handful of Minnesota-based companies made Fortune's list of "World's Most Admired Companies" for 2020.

In the list of 331, two broke the top 50, with Target at number 22, and 3M at number 29. Best Buy made the list as well.

Apple topped the list at number one for a striking 13th year in a row. 

The ranking of "corporate reputation" published by Fortune every year is based on a survey of nearly 3,800 executives, directors and analysts. Those individuals are asked to select the 10 companies they admire most from 52 industries, ranking them in nine categories including investment value, quality of management, social responsibility, and ability to attract talent.

The companies that made the list of 331 were all ranked in the top half of their industry.

The top 10 companies in all were:

  • Apple
  • Amazon
  • Microsoft
  • Walt Disney
  • Berkshire Hathaway
  • Starbucks
  • Alphabet
  • JPMorgan Chase
  • Costco Wholesale
  • Salesforce
