MINNEAPOLIS — The oldest toy store in America will soon make its highly sought-after products more widely available to consumers, following the exclusive, multi-year deal the company signed with Target Corp.

The Minnesota-based retailer announced the agreement Monday, saying more than 120 toys across categories will be made available in Target stores and its website, in addition to FAO Schwarz stores, in mid-October. Target says the toys will range in price up to $149.99 — 50 of which will be under $20.

FAO Schwarz, which opened its doors in 1882, is celebrating its 160th anniversary this year. To commemorate its rich history, the company will also produce a "capsule collection" of many nostalgic toys, including the Hot Wheels Collector Set, Funko Toy Soldier Pop, the 160th Anniversary Teddy Bear and UNO.

“One of the reasons families love shopping at Target is because of our incredible assortment of toys, and that selection is only getting better with our new exclusive agreement with the beloved FAO Schwarz brand,” said Jill Sando, Target's executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, in a statement.

Target says it will dedicate spaces throughout its stores during the holiday season to showcase FAO Schwarz toys and offer demonstrations for customers by Target toy experts.

“FAO Schwarz has been celebrating the wonder of childhood and bringing awe and discovery to all children — and the child inside all of us — for 160 years, and now families everywhere across the U.S. can enjoy this experience at their local Target store,” said FAO Schwarz chief merchandising officer David Niggli.
