MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened in an alley near the MPD precinct between 1st Ave. and Hennepin Ave.
Officers were patrolling the area when they heard shots fired just after 2 a.m. Monday, and received 911 calls about the shooting while on their way to the scene, according to an official with MPD.
Multiple officers chased the suspected shooter, who was identified by witnesses in the area. He was eventually taken into custody.
Police say two adult men were shot. One died from his injuries, and another was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition.
According to Minneapolis Police, this is the 13th homicide in the city so far this year.
Police are still working to determine where the men were before the shooting, and if the incident is gang related.
