Two Powerball tickets worth $1 million each have been sold in Carlton, Minnesota in the past three weeks.

CARLTON, Minn. - For the second time in three weeks, a Powerball ticket purchased in the tiny town of Carlton, Minnesota matched the first five numbers drawn to win $1 million.

A ticket purchased at Kwik Trip, located at 1711 Highway 210 in Carlton, matched the first five Powerball numbers drawn on June 9.

“This is life-changing,” Emil Hakomaki said after claiming the prize on Monday.

The Hibbing man was “touring around Gooseberry Falls” when he made a pit stop at the Carlton Kwik Trip and purchased one Powerball ticket.

“My life has always been good, and this will add so much more to it,” Hakomaki said.

“I think it’s the week to buy again, we’re gonna try for number three,” laughed Mariah Columbus, who drove from her home in Barnum to buy a lottery ticket at Carlton's Kwik Trip.
