3 shot in Uptown, no suspects arrested

Police say at least two of the three victims are believed to be unintended targets.

MINNEAPOLIS - Three people were shot in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis on Friday night, according to police.

Minneapolis police spokesperson John Elder says officers responded to the 2800 block of Hennepin Avenue South on a report of a shooting at just after 10:30 Friday night.

When police arrived they provided first aid to two victims, who were brought to HCMC with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. About a half hour later, Elder said, another male victim arrived at the hospital, brought by a private party.

Elder said the two people found at the scene, a man and a woman, have been released. He said police believe those two people were not intended targets.

"They are people that were not part of this incident and are basically innocent victims," he said. "They were just out in public."

The third victim is still in the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Elder. He said they have not had a chance to interview that person.

No arrests have been made. Elder said they will adjust their resources to make sure that area is being covered thoroughly by police.
