Carver County investigating Waconia High School coach

No charges have been filed in the case.

WACONIA, Minn. — Carver County Sheriff's office confirms to KARE 11 that they've launched a criminal investigation into allegations that a Waconia High School coach or staff member aided the administration of medicine to a student athlete.

Waconia Public Schools released a statement confirming the investigation into one of its coaches but no charges have been filed.

A search warrant filed in the case shows a Waconia high school athlete's mother filed a complaint with the Minnesota Board of Education after she found out her son was given a "clear baggie of white pills" to take for a skin infection.

According to the warrant, the student athlete was asked to show up to the coach's home to get the medicine and was told by the coach not to speak about the infection.

The warrant also says the athlete's mother has a photo of the prescription pill bottle.

Again, no charges have been filed in this case and KARE 11 is not naming the coach because of that reason. KARE 11 has reached out to the coach and were referred back to the school district's statement.
