3 rescued from St. Paul caves

Someone called police to report that two young adults had gone into the caves and hadn't been seen.

ST PAUL, Minn. — Three young adults were rescued from a cave near the Mississippi River early Wednesday morning.

A call came in to St. Paul police just after midnight. The caller told police that two people had gone into the caves near the Watergate Marina by Shepherd Road earlier in the day and hadn't been seen since.

St. Paul firefighters went into the caves and found that there were three, not two, people who needed to be rescued. No injuries were reported. All three were detained by police, but there is no word on if they will face any charges.

According to Art Rodriguez with St. Paul FIre, this is not the first time people have gotten stuck in these caves.
