Minnesota teams up with World Vision to usher in new era of child sponsorship

Children in Bangladesh now have the power to change their own lives and communities.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — For the first time in its seven-decade history, the global Christian humanitarian organization, World Vision, is empowering children to choose their own sponsors through an innovative experience called Chosen. Last month, photos of more than 350 members of Woodbury Lutheran Church were displayed in a community center in Bangladesh for children to choose from.

"It’s a simple, yet powerful, switch at the beginning of the sponsorship relationship process that recognizes the dignity and value of children living in extreme poverty and expresses World Vision’s belief that these children have the power to change their own lives and their communities and even to touch the lives of their sponsors," said Edgar Sandoval Sr., president of World Vision U.S.

Chosen is taking place across the nation at churches, artist concerts, and even online. To learn more about the child sponsorship program, click here. World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities to reach their full potential by tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice and serves all people, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender.
