Saint Paul Winter Carnival seeks 2020 goodwill ambassadors!

Carnival organizers are looking for new people to fill the royal court.

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hurry! Applications are now being accepted for the 2020 Saint Paul Winter Carnival Queen of Snows Candidate Program, Junior Royalty and Senior Royalty. New members of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival Royal Family will serve as goodwill ambassadors for their sponsors, the Saint Paul Winter Carnival, the Saint Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation, and the City of Saint Paul throughout their year-long reign.

If chosen, new royal family volunteers will participate in a variety of activities including parades and family events during the 134th Saint Paul Winter Carnival to be held January 23 – February 2, 2020. In addition, some ambassadors will travel extensively throughout Minnesota, the United States and Canada to share the Saint Paul Winter Carnival’s heritage, and community pride at festivals and charitable appearances.

Each January, five women are chosen to serve as Aurora, Queen of Snows and the North, East, West and South Wind Princesses. The Queen of Snows program is open to all women. There are no restrictions with regards to marital status, dependents, place of residence, or employment status. The minimum requirements are to be 21 years of age by Coronation Day (January 24, 2020) and to be a high school graduate. The Saint Paul Winter Carnival’s Junior Royalty program is open to youth ages 12 to 15. Candidates should have good interpersonal skills as well as the time and energy to commit to a one-year term to serve as a member of the court. Deadline for application is Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019. The Junior Coronation on January 4, 2020 at Woodbury High School will introduce King Frost, Queen of the Snowflakes and their court.

Potential King Winter and Queen of the Northlands candidates are encouraged to apply for the 2020 Senior Royalty Court by Friday, Nov. 1, 2019.
