GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn — They're not an uncommon sight in Wisconsin but this time, black and white bovines turned up in an unexpected location.

Cows. Hanging out at the Wisconsin brewery known for Spotted Cow beer. The stars apparently aligning.

The New Glarus Brewing Co. posted to their Facebook page Monday that a herd of spotted cows was seen loitering outside the brewery.

The bovine jailbreak, naturally, has been the talk of New Glarus.

"It's been an interesting day," said Drew Cochrane, chief operating officer of New Glarus Brewing Co. told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "All I can say is it was an awfully interesting call to get at 2:30 in the morning."

The 16 Holstein cows, who broke out of their corral about a mile and a half from New Glarus, were spotted milling around the parking lot of the brewery by the company's private security firm around 1:30 a.m. Monday. A sheriff's deputy was sent to the scene to help round up the wayward bovines, who ended up spending around three hours on the lam before their owner was notified.

"There were no damages. They ate a bunch of our grass," said Cochrane. "We had a little cleaning up to do after they left, it's fair to say."
