Scuba diver pulled from Square Lake identified

A call came in Tuesday night about a scuba diver "having difficulty in the water."
Crews searched Square Lake for a missing scuba diver on Tuesday night.

NEAR STILLWATER, Minn. - A scuba diver has died after an incident on Square Lake, about eight miles north of Stillwater.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, a call came in about a diver "having difficulty in the water" at about 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday. Crews responded and searched for the 51-year-old man, who was later found by dive team members under the water.

According to the sheriff's office, responders attempted to resuscitate the man but were unsuccessful. He died at the scene.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim as 51-year-old William Lorenzo Brown of Shoreview.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office and Ramsey County Medical Examiner are investigating.
