ST PAUL, Minn. — St. Paul police are investigating a deadly shooting where a 2-year-old was struck and killed Wednesday inside an apartment building

According to the St. Paul Police Department, they responded just before 1:15 p.m. to a report that a boy had "hurt is head." When officers arrived they found the 2-year-old boy with an apparent gunshot wound. Medics rendered aid, but the boy died in the ambulance outside the apartment building approximately eight minutes after the initial call.

Police say they've brought three juveniles in for questioning.

According to officials, it's unclear who fired the gun and it's possible there were other people inside the apartment when the shooting occurred.

Authorities say the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to help determine if the shooting was accidental, intentional or self-inflicted. The investigation is ongoing.
