Armed, intoxicated man arrested after manhunt in Blaine

A perimeter was set up near the 9400 block of Monroe Street NE as officers attempted to locate the suspect, and area schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution.

A chaotic few hours in one Blaine neighborhood are over after police were finally able to locate an armed, intoxicated man who slipped away from them following a domestic disturbance. 

Blaine Police spokesman Ben Hayle says it all began with a 911 call reporting a domestic incident on the 9400 block of Monroe Street NE around 10 a.m. Officers responded, and the man fled the scene. 

A perimeter was set up and area schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution. Among those schools were Westwood Middle and Intermediate, Avail Academy, Blaine Human Services Center, Mary Ann Young Senior Center, University Ave Elementary.

Officers scoured the neighborhood with help from police K-9 teams and the State Patrol helicopter. Residents were told to lock their doors and remain inside. Anyone who saw the suspect was asked to call 911 immediately and not approach him. 

The suspect, described as a white male, approximately 35 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and bald, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and red sweat pants was located around 1:30 p.m. and taken into custody.
