BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. - A Brooklyn Park man pleaded guilty to stabbing his wife at least 30 times, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Tuesday.

Jethro Togar Gboeah, 35, pleaded guilty on Monday to first-degree attempted murder.

On August 15, 2017, officers were called to an apartment building in Brooklyn Park to investigate a stabbing. According to the criminal complaint, police found a woman, who was later identified as Gboeah’s wife, lying in the hallway suffering from several stab wounds, including one to her neck. Officers later learned that she suffered approximately 30 stab wounds.

Gboeah had gone to the apartment on August 15, approached his wife and began strangling her, according to the complaint. He then got a knife and repeatedly stabbed her in front of their children. The kids told police that their father said he was going to kill their mother if he could not be with her and that nobody else was going to be with her.

In May of last year, Gboeah was charged with several counts of domestic assault and was ordered not to have contact with his wife as terms of his release.

Gboeah remains in custody and will be sentenced on Friday to the mandatory 15 years in prison.
