Charges: Dassel couple had drugs, weapons, functioning cannon

Both individuals were taken intro custody and transported to the Meeker County Jail.

DASSEL, Minn. — A Dassel couple is facing charges after a search warrant lead officers to a stash of drugs, weapons and a functioning cannon with accessories. 

Bret Bruce Wakefield, 59, and Ramona Jean Wakefield, 56, are both charged with first-degree sale of a controlled substance, first degree-possession of a controlled substances and possessing firearms when banned.

Agents executed a no-knock search warrant Monday at around 6:52 a.m. at a residence located on MN Highway 15 near Dassel. Upon entering, agents immediately located Bret Wakefield on the main level area of the residence, detained him, and then took his wife into custody shortly afterwards. 

The criminal complaint says agents saw methamphetamine paraphernalia in plain view and located 4.2 grams if a crystal-like substance that later tested positive for the presence of meth. Agents also located a pay/owe sheet, which they say appears to be a record of past illegal sales of controlled substances, according to the complaint.

Agents searched Bret Wakefield and found 20.1 grams of meth and around $1000 in cash on him. They also located 12 firearms ranging from shotguns to rifles, ammunition and a functioning cannon with cannon accessories, according to the complaint.

Both individuals were taken intro custody and transported to the Meeker County Jail.
