ST PAUL, Minn. — A man was robbed shortly after exiting his car in St. Paul Saturday night when he was approached by three men who punched him multiple times, according to the criminal complaint.

Police responded to the 500 block of Prior Avenue North around 10:30 p.m.

According to the complaint, after the victim fought back against the three men, one of the assailants displayed a gun from his waistband.

The trio took the victim's wallet and chain and left in a vehicle that the victim described to police as a Chevrolet Impala.

At 11:30 p.m., Minneapolis police stopped that vehicle, which had 26-year-old Ahmed Fara Roble, 26-year-old Khadar Abdi Isse and 23-year-old Walid Abdirahman Mohamud inside, prosecutors said.

The victim identified Mohamud as the man who flashed a gun at him during the robbery.

Prosecutors said police recovered a stolen Colt .380 handgun from the floorboard where Mohamud was sitting.

Roble spoke to police and said he and his friends were at a music studio and said Isse got into an argument with "some guy" about music. He denied participating in the assault, saying the argument did not get physical and denied knowing anyone had a gun, according to the complaint.
