NORTH MANKATO, Minn. - A Mankato man is facing murder charges after being linked to the overdose death of a woman in early April.

North Mankato Police were dispatched on April 12 to an apartment on reports of a female who was unresponsive. Officers found a 29-year-old woman deceased and evidence on the scene that indicated she had died of a drug overdose. An autopsy later confirmed it. A powder that tested positive for fentanyl and drug paraphernalia were collected as evidence.

Investigators from the MN Valley Drug Task Force were able to identify a 38-year-old Mankato man as the source of the drug, and a warrant search on his home located a powder that matched the one found at the OD scene.

The suspect is being held on probable third degree murder charges, and is expected to make his first court appearance Friday.
