MAPLEWOOD, Minn. — A 51-year-old man is being accused of sexually assaulting children at his Maplewood store.

Akeem Lamina is being charged for criminal sexual conduct in two different cases both involving young children.

Lamina allegedly assaulted a young girl between Jan. 1, 2018 and Dec. 31, 2019.

The child, who refers to Lamina as her "uncle," even though they are not blood relatives, disclosed to her teacher that Lamina sexually assaulted her multiple times at his home and store.

The other case accuses Lamina of sexually assaulting another girl who told an employee at her kindergarten that Lamina abused her.

The young girl disclosed the alleged sexual abuse to the school employee following a discussion of class rules, one of which is that no one should touch children's private parts.

The girl said the alleged abuse occurred while she would attend religious classes, which Lamina provided the space for at his store on Saturdays.

Both of the charges are felonies.
