It is the deadliest year in St. Paul in over a decade with 28 homicides, the most recent of which happened Wednesday evening.
On Thursday, the first of three community meetings will be held to address this especially violent year. Mayor Melvin Carter says there needs to be urgency is trying to find a way out of this cycle of violence and staying out of the cycle.
"I expect people to come forward and people to become part of the conversation. This is an emotional conversation for us in St. Paul as it well should be because when we have neighborhood crime issues, when we have violence in our communities, when we have loss of life it's traumatic for us and we are in shock and we are in grieving," said Carter.
