Two dead after shooting near St. Paul's Green Line Central Station

Metro Transit officials said shots were fired inside a building connected to the station around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Two people are dead after a shooting near the Green Line Central Station in St. Paul on Monday night. 

Metro Transit authorities said officers, with the help of St. Paul Police, responded to a report of shots fired inside a structure near the station at the corner of 5th Street East and Cedar Street around 8:30 p.m.

The building where the shots were fired includes a stairway and an elevator, connecting the street and skyway near Central Station. 

Two people with gunshot wounds were taken to the hospital, but officials said both of them were later pronounced dead. Officials identified the two victims as 21-year-old Ellijah Marquise Payne and 18-year old David Burton Johnson.

Police are still investigating and Metro Transit said no arrests have been made as of Tuesday afternoon.
