BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The officers who were involved in a fatal shooting outside a McDonald's restaurant in Burnsville have been identified.
Authorities say five officers with the Burnsville Police Department were involved in the fatal shooting early Thursday morning. They have been identified as:
- Sgt. Patrick Gast -- 13-year veteran
- Officer Tylor Jacobs -- 4-year veteran
- Officer John Mott -- 8-year veteran
- Officer LynRae Tonne -- 17-year veteran
- Sgt. Maksim Yakovlev -- 16-year veteran
All five are on administrative leave, which is standard with officer-involved shootings.
The officers responded to a 911 call of a disturbance in the parking lot of the McDonald's on Highway 13, around 6:15 a.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, the officers came in contact with an individual with a weapon.
Police have not said what the weapon was or if the person is a man or woman.
At some point, officers fired their weapons, striking the individual, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the person's name, once the autopsy and family notification is complete.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is taking over the investigation.
