One man killed in early-morning stabbing in Bloomington

Two men were arguing when one pulled out a knife and stabbed the other.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — One man is dead and another in custody after an argument turned physical on the MET light rail. 

According to a spokesman with Metro Transit, a man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed just before 1:00 a.m. on Thursday. 

Two men were arguing, and then the dispute became physical with one man pulling a knife and stabbing the other, officials say. The incident took place at the 28th Ave. stop in Bloomington, near the Mall of America. 

The victim was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he later died. 

The other man was taken into custody without incident. 

The northbound Blue Line train was held at the station until just before 5:00 a.m. Train service has since been restored. 

The spokesman credits security cameras and witnesses on the train with helping investigators piece together what happened. 

Hennepin County, Bloomington Police and Metro Transit authorities are investigating.
