Police: Dinkytown attempted sexual assault suspect believed to be linked to previous assaults

Minneapolis Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down the suspect.

MINNEAPOLIS — Late Thursday afternoon, Minneapolis Police said they believe the suspect who tried to kidnap a woman in broad daylight near the University of Minnesota campus, may be responsible for several attacks on women in the city over the last two years.

The University of Minnesota sent out a safety alert Tuesday morning about an attempted kidnapping near the intersection of SE 6th street and SE 10th avenue in the Dinkytown neighborhood.

In Thursday's news conference, police called this a brazen attack in broad daylight.

Officers say the suspect tried to sexually assault a woman in her car but she was able to fight him off.

Police believe the suspect has struck in the past, but could not provide details on the other incidents.

The suspect is described as a man in his 30's or 40's, possibly with a beard.
