Police: Men pistol-whip father, point gun at daughter in St. Paul garage

The victim told police he was in his garage with his two children, ages 4 and 9.

ST PAUL, Minn. — St. Paul police are investigating after they say two armed suspects pistol-whipped a man and pointed a gun to his daughter's head Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to the 300 block of View Street at around 9:10 a.m. for the report of an assault.

When police arrived, they found the 28-year-old victim covered in blood with a laceration on his forehead.

The victim told police he was in his garage with his two children, ages 4 and 9.

He told police he strapped his kids into the car seats and opened the garage door when he noticed a bin had been knocked over, blocking him from driving out.

The man got out of the vehicle to move the bin, and suspect approached him from behind, hit him with the butt of a handgun and threw him on the ground, police said.

The suspect then pointed the gun at him. There was a second suspect in the garage, according to authorities.

The victim told the suspects his children were in the car. The 9-year-old got out of the car and told suspects not to shoot her dad, according to police. One of the suspects grabbed her head, covered her mouth and held the gun to her head, police said.
