St. Paul police seek man 'randomly assaulting' people

Police say they have received at least five reports of the suspect approaching strangers and either damaging their vehicles, threatening them, slapping or assaulting them with an object.

ST PAUL, Minn. — St. Paul police are asking for help locating and identifying a man they say has been "driving around the city randomly assaulting and threatening people."

Police say they have received five reports of the man approaching strangers and damaging their vehicles, threatening them, slapping them or assaulting them with an object.

The reported incidents happened:

• 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 on the 1700 block of Dayton
• 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 on the 2000 block of Roblyn
• 11:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 on the 1400 block of Ashland
• 11:18 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 near St. Clair and Amherst
• 3:39 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 on the 2000 block of Wellesley

Police say the suspect is described as a heavyset white male in his thirties, between 220 and 250 pounds, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a blue teardrop tattoo under his left eye. Witnesses describe his vehicle as a light blue or light gray Subaru Outback with stolen license plates 454 PPW. Victims say he wears a ski mask or scarf over his face during the random assaults.
